HITLER'S WORDS ACROSS AMERICA

	This is Dial A Gay Atheist, a communications service of
American Gay & Lesbian Atheists.  American Gay Atheists, Inc., is
a non-profit, educational foundation dedicated to keeping state and
church separate and promoting the concept as the gay community's

	"I believe I am acting in accordance with the will of the
Almighty Creator:  by defending myself against the Jews, I am
fighting for the Lord."  These are the words of Adolf Hitler, taken
directly from his autobiography, "Mein Kampf."  In place of the
word "Jews" one could substitute the name of almost any other group
of people and it would sound like any modern-day Christian living
in America today.  For instance, "by defending myself against the
fags, I am fighting for the Lord."  Across the United States,
Hitler's words are ringing from church pulpit to church pulpit with
astounding clarity.
	
	And across America, right-wing Christian Brownshirts are
marching like foot soldiers in their pogroms of hate to subvert
basic human and constitutional rights of gay and lesbian citizens. 
We have seen it happen recently in Colorado, in Oregon, in Florida,
in Maine, in Arizona, in California, in Texas, and even in Wyoming. 
All across America, where strides in equality of civil rights for
lesbian and gay citizens have occurred, the right-wing Christian
forces have been there to counter, and most often to try to
legislate into law the right to actually discriminate against an
entire group of people.

	Some "liberally" religious people will say that such efforts
are not representative of Christianity, that it is only the right-
wing fringe which is responsible for such reprehensible behavior. 
Of course, such a statement clearly demonstrates that most people
are unaware of the history of their own religion.  If one honestly
takes a look at Christianity, one will see that it is really a mask
for an alternative political system, a system which is intent on
replacing every secular system of government with a religious one. 
Most Christians are not just content to enjoy their basic
constitutional right to practice their religion when they want. 
Instead, the basic premise of Christianity is to foist it upon
everyone, subverting a culture if necessary and taking over the
power and influence of government in order to do so.

	Christianity grew up during a time when the Roman Empire was
the dominant world power.  One of the great lies which Christianity
has palmed off as truth is that that great empire "fell" because
of its decadence.  Every historian knows this to be a lie, yet
Christians have no reservation in saying that Rome actually fell
because it engaged in orgies, homosexuality, and rampant excesses
of pleasure.  This lie perseveres because such a fabrication makes
it appear that Christianity was responsible for the salvation of
the world at the time.  The fact is that Christianity survived and
grew because it was *forced* upon the Classical World through the
power of despotic ruling regimes, beginning with the Roman Emperor
Constantine.  And when Christianity began taking a cultural hold,
it also began by destroying everything and anything which it viewed
to be in opposition to it.   In a frenzy of state/church-sponsored
destruction, it obliterated ancient libraries, the temples of other
religions, and works of art.  It even set about killing the priests
and priestesses of other religions in order that it might flourish.


	When Christianity gained a strong foothold, the clock seemed
almost to run in reverse.  The shadow of the Dark Ages grew ever
larger and more repressive until it covered everything for well
over a thousand years.  Nothing was allowed to prosper and flourish
unless it glorified the morbid Christian cult.  Perhaps nothing
reflects this period of darkness better than the art of the time. 
The paintings depicted mostly scenes of wars being fought while
soldiers stared ghoulishly toward heaven.  Women's bodies were
always covered from head to foot, their faces ashen and sullen as
they held a baby while gazing morbidly toward heaven.  Not only was
scientific discovery and inquiry put on hold, it was destroyed. 
Medical investigation was considered heresy and punishable by
death, and anyone who dared to question the edicts of the priests
were in danger of losing their lives.  Christianity succeeded not
because the world gladly embraced it, but rather through the
political powers of force.

	Christianity as a religion is really a mask for its true
purpose: an alternative political system.  It began as a mirror
image of the authoritarian Roman Empire where it began.  As a
result, it always remains a permanent, dysfunctional element in any
state where the majority are Christians, whether the state is
authoritarian or democratic.  

	What is happening in America today  -- the subjugation of the
rights of minorities, the attempt to legalize discrimination
against gays and lesbians, the obsession to control the
reproductive processes of women, the crusade to return prayer to
the public school classroom, the endeavor to "restore" religion at
every level, the sedition of our cultural symbols to reflect a
religious message -- these things are not merely coincidental. 
They happen as a result of a concerted and calculated movement by
Christianity to control every aspect of the culture.  This is
precisely what is behind the strong effort by right-wing forces to
tyrannize, subdue and conquer the rights of gay and lesbian people
today.
