WARNING: The Cult Awareness Network was destroyed by the Scientology
crime syndicate in court and, when CAN went bankrupt, the Scientology
criminal enterprise acquired the use and title of the Cult Awareness
network. Now, if you call CAN, you will find yourself talking to
the Scientology crime syndicate! This gross injustice was due to a
massive frame up concocted by Scientology to destroy CAN and it
worked, prompting a Judge to order all of CAN's records handed over
to the very same criminal enterprise that most people contacted the
real CAN to complain about and to acquire help fighting. Spread
the word that the new Cult Awareness Network is now a Scientology
crime syndicate front! - flr, feb 2003

Well, thanks for the flattery there, but I really don't deserve the
credit for much, just for recounting what I know about CAN. Actually,
you should give 99% of the credit to the folks from your own Church who
make all this PR possible through hard work and investigations. The
Chicago group in particular (and DC) are real troopers. I love em all.
What paper did the article appear in? I'm trying to keep tabs on all
of what comes out quoting me, since occasionally newspapers have grossly
misquoted me. This week we got a very large story (and two related
stories) in the Pioneer Press association (about ten suburban Chicago
newspapers) which really showed CAN in their true form - secretive,
oppressive, and illegal. A regular public newspaper has had the insight
finally to get beyond CAN's manipulations and lies. In this instance,
CAN has flatly denied that I had any connection with them or that I was
ever a deprogrammer, while one former CAN national director, caught off
guard, admitted my role and admitted she was advising me in it while I
was doing a deprogramming. Good job on the reporter's part.
I almost feel at a loss now that CAN has been nationally exposed...
I have spent so much time working with organizations and agencies
opposing them, and now that the job is virtually done, well, what is
there to do? . I guess I'll have more time for Krsna Conscious
projects, and maybe a few COS courses (I'm waiting to do the
Communications oriented one).
Since you're out on the East coast (Washington, right?), you can soon
obtain a complete, unabridged press packet from your org regarding all
the work the Chicago Religous Freedom Project had done in the past two
years, and the work of the Baltimore based Friends of Freedom (Rev., Dr.
George Robertson). Alot of nice stuff we're compiling. Stay tuned.
Also, a complete report on the 1990 CAN Conference here in Chicago is
coming up ("...is there a deprogrammer in the house?"). It should be
more humorous than anything else related to the topic.
I hope you'll be interested in becoming a member of the Religious
Freedom Project. There's still alot of clean-up work to do, and
we welcome everyone's support. Talk to your local OSA staff.
Also, from this Origin BBS (Krishna Yoga Foundation BBS), we have a
conference that can be fed out there called FNET, the Religious Freedom
Project Conference. Interested? Ask your local sysops to pick it up..
