AP 05/29 0324 Pornography Charge
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- A high school teacher has pleaded
guilty to taking nude photographs of girls from behind a two-way
mirror as they changed clothes in a dressing room.
Harold L. Hartman, 40, of Auburn, entered the plea Tuesday to
10 counts of posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity.
He was scheduled for sentencing today.
Hartman, a math and science teacher on leave from Shrewsbury
High School to work on a training project for a company,
photographed 10 girls, ages 4 to 17, between 1981 and 1986, said
Assistant District Attorney John P. Haran.
Parents had brought the girls to a studio to model for a book
on gymnastics Hartman said he was assembling, Haran said. The
prosecutor said three girls became suspicious after hearing what
they thought was the clicking of a camera.
"I thought he was my friend, but he was not really my friend,"
one of the girls testified at a sentencing hearing. "This will
affect me for a long time, not just now."
