All-Music Guide Biography
Southern California-based Arkenstone honed his chops as a guitarist
and keyboardist in various local bands and touring groups before the
music of Kitaro inspired him to create a lavish synthesizer-based
sound of his own. Most of his albums have enjoyed lengthy runs on the
BILLBOARD new-age sales chart due to a combination of accessible

David Arkenstone's new album follows the adventures of the mythical
CITIZEN OF TIME as he travels through time and space surveying ancient
cultures and far-flung lands, finally venturing off into the universe.
Along the way he visits mountains, forests and caves, and journeys to
China, India, the Americas, and ancient Egypt. All the while
Arkenstone's synthesizers paint iridescent sound pictures, with strong
melodies, well defined rhythms, and skillful arrangements, using
piano, bass, flute, and guitar (all played by David) as support. An
array of percussion instruments and drums, performed by Daniel Chase,
lend much atmosphere, depth, and ethnic coloring to the compositions,
which range from catchy electro-pop to rhythmic workouts, from
celestial flights to epic orchestrations. CITIZEN OF TIME delivers on
the promise of David's gorgeous debut album VALLEY OF THE CLOUDS.
After the all-too-often overly-slick commercial detour of ISLAND,
CITIZEN OF TIME is a beautifully conceived and executed work by one of
the most talented second generation New Age artists. ~ Backroads

A sonic odyssey telling the story of a traveler who visits earth's
past and present civilizations. This album has some nice moments but
