For the past several months I've worked in my companies receiving
inspection department. I open the boxes, check in parts and inspect
them.
Today for the first time I opened a box in which along with the parts
was a 16 page religious tract called "Destined For Greatness" which
gives all kinds of bible quotes and arguments for creationism and so
forth. It ends with a "prayer for acceptance" with a space for your
name and address so you can send it in for a "free" book called
"God Owns My Business" written by the president of the company.
The company is called "United States Plastic Corp." and it is owned by
a guy named R. Stanley Tam. According to the pamphlet he also owns
"States Smelting & Refining Corp." and is board chairman of
"Industrial Safety Corp." and "Tamco Industries".
As I work for a large govenment and military contractor I wonder if it
is proper for a company to do business even indirectly with the
government and proselytize at the same time. It certainly seems rude
to me at least.
Needless to say the religious tract went no farther than me.
I just thought that if any of the list members are buyers for
companies that they might think before ordering from the above-
mentioned businesses.
