   LONDON (AP) -- A 31-year-old Irishman was charged with murder today in the
slaying of a California member of the Hare Krishna cult who was stabbed and
decapitated on his 39th birthday, police said.
   John Tierman, unemployed and living in a rented room in Hackbridge, south of
London, was to appear in court Wednesday, Scotland Yard said.
   The victim was identified as James Edward Immel of Palm Springs, Calif.
   Immel was living in the north London suburb of Hendon. He was slain in a
brass fittings shop on Friday, police said.
   Tierman had come to London on Nov. 7 from Dublin and had recently been in
Canada, police said.
   Both were members of an offshoot of the Hare Krishna cult, Scotland Yard
said.
