A visit with Xian Miller.
I was curious as to whether the person posting as Christian Miller
was genuine or not. So, when the rates were low, I loaded up the
term program and gave his BBS a look-see.
On calling I found the BBS was running on a 'strange' platform
(possibly an Apple II or an Atari, I've no real idea) and was
annoyingly sluggish. I also found it interesting to note that there
was only one local area, and that one with only a small handful of
messages in it. All other areas on the BBS are echoes. I found it
very interesting to note that while there were few messages about
Jesus Christ there was no shortage of messages about engine blocks
and hollow point bullets.
Even more annoying than the sluggish performance of the host machine
was the fact that all the menus and system messages are written in a
Dukes of Hazard Good-ol-Boy dialect. In the third message in this
series I have included a mercifully small sample of this. It
reminded me of the C-64 BBSes of ten years ago. I had hoped those
days were behind us.
The file section was non-functional. It contains half a dozen text
files "for believers", but all my attempts to download them resulted
in the BBS either locking up or giving me a "Tell Christian if you
see this" error message.
It was in the utilities section that I struck pay-dirt. First I
looked at the user log and discovered that other than his own
sessions, Christian only gets two or three callers a day. He has
(including his dual Christian/Christina personae) a grand total of
twenty users.
The oldest inactive caller posted only last month. This causes me
to suspect that the BBS was put on-line very recently. Note that the
log on message even contains an admission that the BBS has very few
callers. (see below)
Then I took a look at the traffic log... and found what I had been
looking for. I have included the complete report. I offer no
comment on it other than the fact that Christian carries more
message areas than are displayed on his menus.

This BBS is going through a MAJOR reconstruction!

callers, which we are not doing in our current format.
