WANTAGH, N.Y. (AP) -- A church was spray-painted with Satanic
symbols and a country club had anti-Semitic slurs painted on its
walls in a pair of unrelated incidents in the past week, Nassau
County police said Thursday.
In the most recent incident, the front door of the Wantagh
Memorial Congregational Church at 1845 Wantagh Ave. was
spray-painted Wednesday night with a Satanic symbol and the words
"Satan's home," said police spokeswoman Officer Donna
Fairweather.
The writing was done between 8:45 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., and
discovered by church sexton Patrick Cattani, she said. Police
made no arrests in the case.
The second incident occurred last Thursday at the Harbor Green
Beach Club in Massapequa, but it wasn't reported until the
following Wednesday, police said.
According to Fairweather, police are searching for the person
or persons who spray-painted anti-Semitic slurs on the side of
the building. The incident was reported by the club director,
Nick Grant.
