Re: Voucher Discussions
I've got something.
{Picture shows kids seated in chairs weaking 'traditional'
pointed witch hats, one kid has arm raised to ask a question}
In what is shaping up to be the most controversial issue in
California's upcoming November 2'nd election, opponents of
the bill that would give $2,600 a year scholarships to students
attending private schools have turned to the public's fear of
the power of 'satanic' cults and witchcraft by pointing out
that "schools" run by witche's covens would also be eligible
for the funding. When told that the only accountability
private schools have is to take attendance, Sen. Art Torres
observed, "Satan worshippers are very punctual. Witches'
covens are very punctual." In response, Assemblyman Bill
Morrow asked: "Do you realistically think parents would send
their children to an open field for school?"
The incident is another indication of the public's belief in
the myth that satanic cults and witches are far more numerous
and powerful than the evidence leads us to believe.
