Here's a poem written by a Gainesville, Fla, man about the gulf war:
NO BLOOD FOR OIL
It's all about how money's spent
Freedom is irrelevant
A word used as an instrument
To motivate the innocent
Bush and Hussein in corners coil
While children are taught to be loyal
To slogans, symbols and to soil
They're tricked to trade their blood for oil
NO BLOOD FOR OIL NO BLOOD FOR OIL
We saw them slaughtered in Beijing
Reagan and Bush said not a thing
To human rights they did not cling
Because no profit would it bring
So typical of the right wing
Now listen to the song they sing
"Naked aggression" they say why
10,000 missions the boys fly
But not a plane took to the air
When thousands shot in Tiananmen Square
We're tricked to trade our blood for oil
NO BLOOD FOR OIL NO BLOOD FOR OIL
Kuwait you're gonna liberate
The honesty of Contra-gate
While homeless cannot beg a plate
Research for AIDS will have to wait
Condemn the blacks to ghetto state
Forgive the rich loans they create
Let's "kick some ass" from swivel chair
More young will die but who will care?
Just hail them "heroes" mouth a prayer
And bury them with flag and flair
But who will profit from their toil
They're tricked to trade our blood for oil
NO BLOOD FOR OIL NO BLOOD FOR OIL
There's one thing more I have to say
Are any rich kids sent away?
They're put in schools to drink and play
To keep them out of horror's way
"Support our troops" they write on vans
Too costly for the common man
But words are cheap like desert sand
Hussein and Bush possess one mind
For Texas tea they kill their kind
The struggle is for currency
Not "jihad" or "democracy"
These words they use dupliciously
A trick to trade our blood for oil
NO BLOOD FOR OIL NO BLOOD FOR OIL
