Problem: Recently I was sent a letter by Florida Power and Light Company asking me to pay an additional $246 for my deposit. However in reading the letter that was sent to me I was under the impression that how this amount was calculated was based off the last two months of electrical billing. When contacting the company and speaking to a representative I was informed that the amount is actually based of the average of the last 12 months and that the amount that is due is the average of at least two months. When reading the letter it does not state this. Now if I were to use my assumption about the last two months average the amount that should be due is $65.82. Which is the difference between the current deposit and the average of the last two months of bills, including late payments that have been made. This company also tries to tell me that I am a valued customer, however the one question I asked has yet to be unanswered. If this company understands tough times, and allows a person to ask for payment extensions, why then am I being penalized for my situation? I have paid all of the amount due to this company on top of paying a late fee every time. Looking back at my check book and the bills due there has been only two times where the bill was paid late the first by four days and the second by two. I also paid the late fee on that. All bills were paid according to statement dates, by this I mean the dates on the statements sent to my home address. This would include the extension amount due plus the current amount due. The representative was telling me dates that a bill was due that I do not recall. I was told I could avoid this additional deposit if I enrolled in automatic bill pay however, I would have to be enrolled for one year. I would take this option however, I am currently planing of moving out of state by the middle of next year so this would not be an option for me.

Why promise what people from here to New Zealand know can”t be delivered? The FPL force acquired a great deal of outside help to assist which means they could direct their attention and expertise in a more localized setting…right. The rest of Little Havana but the one or two blocks with elderly communities are powerless in a sea of lights due to surrounding neighborhoods with power, ac, ability to store foods, etc. Representatives have driven around a number of times, slowed down to look at the property, and continued driving. People are moving out due to FPL!

This is the complaint I sent to the psc and bbb: This complaint is about customer service and the lack on knowledge that the people that I have encountered has regarding issues that you would think a regular representative would know. I started out of the monthly credit card billing thing with fpl. It was always a mystery because you never had an exact date that money would be drawn from your account.in this day and time, who can be comfortable with something like that? I need to know if you what date you are debiting my account and the dates should not change monthly. Every automatic bill that I have set up, I can tell what date its coming out. The problem occurred when I changed my bank account, because of all the manual process and whatever it takes to get that changed, my payment went to the wrong bank anyway and I was kicked off the monthly billing and charged an enormous deposit. Fast forward a couple of months and I was recently deemed disabled so I had to set up payment arrangements on my bill. Per fpl, i’ve had several arrangements and several defaults including two defaults in one day. I am not sure how that happens. Who would establish two arrangements on one bill in one day? Of course, was just told that today. Back in july, I received assistance from an agency that paid the bill in full. The agency called and asked for the current bill amount and to my surprise they were only given the amount that was due and not the complete bill amount. My agency paid the majority and the had me pay an amount which should have paid the bill to 0.00 and it didn’t. When that amount was paid, it paid out the extension that was made. I called today to check my bill amount because I don’t always get a bill and I found out that my I was in danger of disconnect when I thought that the payment in august paid the bill out.in my experience with fpl, I have never gotten the correct answer when I have called and it only resulted in me making several calls. Its ridiculous that fpl can’t give you a date when your funds are going to be deducted, they can’t even tell me when your service is scheduled for disconnection. Its like playing a cat and mouse game and maybe its to rack up late charges or its a game that gives fpl some benefit, because I can’t think of a company that knows less about their own operation like fpl. Of course I spoke to a supervisor named ms. Rodarte and she also didn’t have the information or could give me a name of the manager of her department. This is what I experience when I call there. A few hours after I made this original complaint with psc, I called fpl to ask for a number to the bill pay to pay my bill using credit a credit card. I spoke with jonathan and was given the number [protected] and when I dialed the number, it was the number back to the customer service department. So I called back and spoke with jonathan and advised him that he gave me the wrong number. He told me that it was the correct number and I advised him that it was not. He put me on old and I searched for the number on the fpl website. Jonathan came back to the phone and told me that he verified that the number that he gave me was correct. I advised him that the correct number was [protected]. A few hours after that incident, I received a call from danny fernandez regarding my initial complaint with psc. Of course danny did his job to give excuses about all my issues. It was perfect timing because I was able to tell him that I can’t even get the correct number to pay the bill when I call. As a courtesy, danny offered to apply half of my deposit that’s on my account against my current bill but disclaimed that if I didn’t pay my bill by the bill date that credit could result in a charge back. My complaint won’t be improved by applying my money to the bill and threaten to charge it back when I fail to pay on time. So now I am really mad. So please have somebody call me with the fax number to armando olivera so I can forward this complaint to the president of this zoo. Thank you.

To Whom It May Concern, I have been an FPL customer for many years, and never have I had the unique problem that I hope to solve with this email. 1. Every time that there is a Hurricane (as low as Cat 1) we lose power right away and are the last set of houses to receive power back. At first I thought that this was no big deal, and that the fact that my area is the last to receive power back was just coincidence. The most recent example of this was Hurricane Irma in 2017. 2. On December 31st 2018, out of nowhere the power went out in my area and came back before midnight. 3. Earlier this week (7/23), we lost power at approx 4:40PM. due to some rain, and did not get power back until 11:30PM; we had to dispose of some food in the refrigerator because of it outage. In all 3 instances, the area marked on the attached/pasted image is the only area affected. Houses across the street or surroundings, either did not lose power at all (for situation 2 & 3) or had power restored days after the Hurricane (situation 1), but our strip was again the odd ball and we received power weeks after. It seems that the only constant to either lose power often or have it restored late is the area where I live, which marked on the image pasted below (also attached); I am hoping that this email will be read by someone who could take action and resolve whatever issue is associated with my area, and our power service is as reliable as it is for those in our surrounding areas. Thank you, -An FPL Customer

This morning (04/10/18 around 10:20am) as I was driving. An aggressive FPL employee in a company truck was tailgating me. Once I got to the Stop Sign and proceeded to drive through, he revved up the truck and passed me in the intersection, crossed over solid double lines and drove towards an oncoming vehicle. Please train your employees NOT to be A-holes on the road. White Ford Pick Up Truck # 2589, License Plate # GDU812 See Video Attached .

They want a 460 dollar deposit to start services for someone who never had their service before. They offer no waivers for the elderly or those on a fixed income..That is a ridiculous price to charge people who are living on social security. I know it’s a buisness but it just seems morally and ethically wrong. Noone else charges that much just to start service If you cant afford it then they shut you. Not right to do to a elderly person in the Florida heat just because they dont have 463 dollars to pay a ridiculous deposit. It should be capped at 100 dollars deposit like most electric company

Suspend my online pay ability after one “recharge” for insufficient funds which charged me $30, they then tell me to use my free checks.com which did not work because they put my account as cash only, so then I was charged another $30. I called them, explained to the lady that I did everything right, made sure I had plenty of money in both of my accounts to pay and it still was recharged for more money.

So 2 months ago my credit card information was stolen so I changed my account number literally 2 days before fpl was suppose to get withdrawn, I didn”t have a chance to update my info with fpl because as many know ..you can start an online acct and it would say your log in is wrong even if its not …anyway because my payment didnt go through this ONE time they refuse to take anymore online or credit card payments ..although they always recieved a payment…now they charged me for deposit that got discounted for automatic withdrawls and shut my light off within 2 min of me answering the door cuz the woman diana expected me to carry 200 in my pjs ! Seeing my kids u would think she would give me 5min!n I call fpl and they tell me well she didnt have to wait …SO WHY THE [censored] DID SHE KNOCK ON MY DOOR IF SHE COULDNT WAIT 5 MIN FOR THE CASH WHY!?

Today, your workers finished installing an IR pole which is on my property and facing my residence. First of all, I resent not being notified that this was being done on my property. Second of all, I am appalled at the monstrosity that has been erected facing my home! I was told that this was to be a center of communication for any problems involved in the area. No one notified me of this as I mentioned earlier. It is not only a hideous object, it also presents a hazard to my home. We are in a storm area. I dread the thought of a forthcoming hurricane to hit this pole, thus causing irreparable damage to my home and my family! I am therefore requesting that you relocate this IR somewhere else, especially not in an immediate area, as this one is, to private residences. Obviously, little thought was given to these consequences. I have heard that FLP has been negligent in responding to other complaints. I hope this is not the issue with mine! I am requesting an immediate rely to this complaint. If not, I plan to protest this to my representative in the Florida Legislature and perhaps the media. Rosemarie F. This company is horrible, they charge whatever they want on your bill.. We should have other companies in Florida for electricity not only one company that would charge what they want and then give you no option… Get rid of FPL please, they are too abusive.. Please we need other electricity companies in Miami, to bring this ridiculous prices down…
