This is a wacky store. I am a 61 year old businessman wearing dress pants and a collar shirt. Its sunny outside, and 5pm. At the checkout with a lineup of people watching on I am asked to remove my sunglasses. She was checking to see if I was sober. I asked her I was coming home from work. Maybe the next time she”ll ask if I can touch my nose with my finger. Maybe my 3 trips a week rang the suspicion bell. Now your screening the eyes of patrons. I am not blaming her, she is told to do this. What if I said no! We don”t serve people wearing sunglasses. I won”t be going back. I”ll go to the wine rack or something. My son has had issue at this store with being corrected about his place in line. It”s seems the staff at this store are on little power trips Sign

This is in regards to the one in Mississauga at Eglinton and Erin Mills Parkway. I accompanied my elderly parents there with my husband who is new to country. Took my parent out for shopping ant stopped by there to get some whisky we were assisting them. However the lady cashier decided to embarrass my husband since he was helping my dad put the bottle on the counter and demanded id from him, when he was assisting them as they do require assistance. The parents paid for it however it is absolutely embarrassing and no fault as he nor me is aware that if you are helping someone elderly holding the bottle or let”s say simply helping someone you see it”s is a crime. If it was just myself and him or a friend and she reacted that way it would be more understanding however she saw two elderly people and decided to embarrass us. such a shame to pick on elderly people who needed assistance and new people to the country and such a shame on LCBO for hiring such condescending racial profiling employees.

Today is June 12, 2019. I came across of single 473ml Budweiser cans advertised on sale for $2.50 save .20. I bought 6 cans. The price came up as $16.20. After I paid I asked if their was tax on the beer. The cashier said no just deposit. So I brought it to their attention that the beer says it”s on sale. The cashier retrieves the shelf sale ticket and takes it to the manager. The manager hollers out from the manager booth that the sale ticket is expired. I will not honor the sale price. I told her that”s not my fault and she should honor the advertisement. She said she”s not because it expired May 26, 2019 and she doesn”t have to. I told her that”s not right and I was going to file a complaint. Other customers agreed and said that I have a point. I told her when customers shop they don”t look at dates that”s in small print. We look at dollar amounts. She proceeds to tell me I”m being disrespectful. I said no way. I didn”t swear or raise my voice. I stated my point. After I threatened to file a complaint she gives me my sale discount after 10 minutes. Then when they refunded my money they gave me back to much. I tried to give it back and the manager had a nasty attitude and didn”t understand. I told her she was disrespectful and I was still going to file a complaint. She threatened me to leave the store or should would call the police. I spend to much money in that store to be treated with such hostility and disrespect. I would like a response to my complaint if possible. Thank you to whom it may concern. My name is Torrance Chester. [protected]@hotmail.com

UPC Code [protected] & black box has an L then what looks like a slanted 8314 followed by date 2018/11/10 750ml size I purchased a bottle 3wks ago & opened it same day of purchase. It tasted like wine vinegar! I was planning on bringing back to store but forgot about it (it was stored in paper bag in a cool place)…I just tried it again (after 3wks) & the taste improved a little but still not drinkable — Unfortunately I tossed it out instead of returning it to store! I just wanted to let you know I won’t be buying Chilean wine anytime soon. In my opinion it should have stayed in Chile aging longer or shipping container requires temperature settings to be checked! Thanks. Jackson Griggs Merlot is great as is Boudacious Smoothe White! /Rosemary Long-Morgan [protected]

We were purchasing a bottle of wine and some beers as we usually do every Sunday. Since I”m 29 years old I never had to present my ID, because it”s evident that I”m a grown up person, however this time (May 17th, 2015) I was asked by the cashier to present my ID that I didn”t carry with me. This woman immediately took the bottle away like I was about to steal them and kept repeating over and l over again that I”m under age and that she can”t sell me alcohol in an extremely aggressive way. That was evidently ridiculous to me, I”m 29!. Anyhow, my partner offered to purchase it for himself with his ID. But no! She refused to accept it and in fact implied that he was trying to buy alcohol for a minor. Obviously, I went mad and tried to talk to the manager. First, he reminded us Canadian policy on alcoholic beverages (we are well aware of it) then advised us to come back 15 mn later and try to buy the bottles again (confused and unprofessional situation). We declined it of course and left without any bottles, but with a strong feeling of being bullied and humiliated by that rude cashier for no evident reason.

Went to get an S.O.P. Sue was the rudest woman I have ever spoken to on the phone. I returned her call and she basically yelled at me for having a full voice mailbox. She proceeded to lecture me how I filled out the “LEGAL DOCUMENT” with a marker. I assured her I was using a ballpoint ink pen… and she yelled at me that it was a marker, and who would ever fill out a legal document with a marker. She then said “I have no idea what this is! A public permit? Private permit? your all over the place!!!” I told her I was applying as a student for a student run gallery exhibition and I had help from a man at the store to fill it out for me. I was confused by part of the sections… That shouldn”t be a reason to yell at a customer… When she found out that a representative from the store helped me with it (I think his name was Dan) she said “WELL. that is a different story. He will have a talking to”. The point is, Dan (?) did his job as best as he could. I could tell that he was nervous about his boss (Im assuming Sue). We were in the liquor store for 40 minutes. I filled out the application, and then waited for Dan to return from his office after being on the phone for a good 15 minutes to figure out if I needed a private or public permit. We then went through the whole application together, and made the correct changes (I crossed out the parts that were done wrong, and signed my initials. We also redid a whole section on a new part. The fact is, Sue was extremely rude, and should never talk to anyone the way she did. I was extremely offended. I was going to the LCBO for a service, and expected to be treated with respect. She yelled at me over the phone, and made me feel like I was an idiot. I will be sure to contact her supervisor and regret asking for her supervisor at that moment.

When shopping for Red Stripe beer, I noticed that a special tag (for discount price) was 2 weeks old. I asked the staff members if this was still valid and if not shouldn”t it be taken down. 30ish year old feminine male staff member made comment: “Oh, so we”re not perfect at everything, big deal !” I was very surprised at this comment and said: “Well, when you have a job, you should at least do it well.” The man actually said: “Yes, sir!”, which I ignored. The female staff member kept quiet; when I returned to the store to get the manager”s name, the female staff member was very helpful and respectful while the male staff member was standing around doing nothing. I recommend to consumers not to use this store; use other LCBO outlets or even better go to the Québec side liquor stores where the customer service and friendliness is outstanding. Johnnie Walker is also $3 cheaper there.

When you don”t get served because you have been asked for ID and don”t have it, or you have ID that is expired it isn”t that cashier is being rude or on a power trip. They are abiding by the LAW. It”s the LAW. You can”t negotiate the terms of the law. And each time a cashier asks you for ID they have to enter it in the system. They can”t complete the transaction bc it”s been flagged unless and until you provide VALID not EXPIRED but VALID AND CURRENT ID. The cashier then let”s the system know whether or not valid id was produced and it may proceed or be terminated. I understand that a customer denied is frustrated, may be well over the legal age and/or how frustrating it is that just bc your license is expired doesn”t negate the fact that you are of age. However the LAW is clear on the privilege of purchasing alcohol. Instead of taking out your frustration on a cashier, I suggest you take it up with Queens park and lobby to change it. Good luck with that. Instead though, customers feel that they may berate, insult, name-call, intimidate and argue with a cashier complying with the law and doing their job. And then you label the LCBO as having a bad attitude. The manner in which customers feel they can speak to staff is disgusting, knowing full well a cashier is at work and can”t say anything except “it”s not personal, it”s the law”. And ps: the policy for buying alcohol is posted visibly at each store so the requirements for id are public knowlege. Same with not being served if your companion doesn”t have id. If you”ve been observed discussing the purchase with your companion, the LCBO has reason to suspect you will be consuming this product together with this person so the law requires you ID the other party. Also when you complain about not being served for any of the above scenarios the employee receives a pat on the back for doing their job. So complain away. Also your conduct towards the cashier is recorded on the security cameras so anytime a customer with a bad attitude tries to lie and say the cashier was out of line, that”s all quite easily verifiable. Thanks for shopping the LCBO.

To whom it may concern, I would like to file a formal complaint against the LCBO location at 401 and Weston. The complaint is regarding a cashier named Robert, and the assistant manager named Jim. I hope you will be able to identify the employee”s with only a first name, because they refused to give me any other form of way to identify them. No employee ID number or last name for which I asked, and they refused to give. I was there with my brother, the day in question to help with the load because it was more then enough for one person to handle. Once we got to the register, Robert decided to ask myself, Alberto for ID, I didn”t question his authority, I stepped out to my car and grabbed it. I proceed to give him my Ontario issued temporary license that says ” NO PHOTO REQUIRED” I proceeded by explaining to him that my wallet was stolen a week ago with all of my id”s and cards. I even offered to show him my police report that I had filed. Something I didn”t have to do. He proceeded by telling me unacceptable, photo ID, as if he was to icompantant to realize, I don”t have any photo ID, hello, “my wallet was stolen I don”t have any photo ID” this is when I proceeded to act accordingly to the situation. I asked Robert why he was asking me for ID when I was not purchasing it was my brother, which by the way showed his ID and Robert was satisfied with. He proceeded by telling me that because I was with him he was within legal right to ask for my ID. I then showed him my ID again, still didn”t want to take it. This is when I asked to speak to the supervisor, when he showed up he was no help at all, horrible communication skill, people skills and management ability. He didn”t do anything to help the situation and was very rude and arrogant to me, you could tell he wasn”t trying to help me at all Wow! Talk about horrible customer service. He said one or two sentences and walked away. These employees need to be repremanded! because while they might work for a private company they are still public servants, that work for LCBO”s customers. Now again let”s review the sequence of events that they handled like unprofessional power triping, idiots. -Asked me for ID when I wasn”t making the purchase. – refused to accept my ID”s – refused to give me last names or employee ID numbers to reference in this complaint. – horrible service from the cashier – horrible non existent service from an LCBO manager, that I believe may be time for some reaccuring training to commence for that gentleman. – I don”t understand how a temporary license issued from service Ontario, is good enough for Toronto police, OPP and RCMP and is not good enough for Robert or Jim. Can someone please explain that to me. I spend over 500.00 a month at your stores and don”t expect this kind of treatment I don”t look like a child or portray myself as one, and can”t believe the level of service that was portrayed to me by LCBO. I expect an apology from those employees immediately and some sort of action to be taken against them.
