I recently posted a Bowflex home gym for sale in a few newspapers in our local area. I received a text from a gentleman named Pat Williams ([email protected]). He said he was interested in purchasing the machine for his son and we would have to communicate via email because he was disabled (hearing impaired). After a long email conversation we decided on a deal. He was going to send be a certified cashiers check for the amount of the machine. In addition, the total would include the funds for the “shipping company” to pick up the machine from my location and take it off of my hands. Easy right? Nope. After doing more research, I found out this whole thing was a scam. What I think happens is that once you receive the “check” you cash it like any other check. A week or two later, the bank calls and holds you responsible for the fake check. You are out the amount of the check, “shipping company” costs, and no bowlfex (or item you are selling). Please beware of this scam. I work at a newspaper and there are a lot of calls that a similar to this.. I demand To have this man caught and held accountable.. Stay away
