Scam – Bait & Switch. Worst business transaction I have ever experienced. As others have written, you will receive an irresistible price quote. Then, after waiting a frustrating 2-4 weeks (I waited over a month), you will be lucky to get about 10% of the original offer. I got the lovely “your device no longer has value to us do to market changes”. No apologies. During the long period of silence in which I wondered if I would ever receive payment or get my phone back, it was nearly impossible to reach them by phone and any email responses I finally did get back were generic and completely unhelpful. Stay away from this scam outfit!!! If there was only a way to create more warning to future victims?

I have a lap top that was used by my 7 year old son for games and DVD’s while traveling. The unit was purchased brand new for roughly $400 at Best Buy less than a year ago and has since been replaced with a less bulky tablet leaving me an extra device in excellent, like-new condition. | After searching the web and going through several appraisals, I settled with Cash for Lap Tops (cashforlaptops.com), because they offered the most for the unit ($180 for a new or like-new unit). Seeing as my Toshiba was rarely used and had no scratched of any kind and was still in the original packaging (with all of the manuals), I assumed that I would receive this offer or pretty close to it. | I accepted their offer and shipped the unit the same day (August 4th). Due to their shipping method, it took until August 18th for them to receive the unit and to inform me that I would receive an offer in 5 days. | On August 19th I received my offer for $28. I was obviously very upset that I had waited all this time to be given an insulting low-ball offer. I replied back to customer service that the offer appeared to be nothing more than a “bait and switch” and that they were assuming that, due to my frustrations over the shipping process and the time it took, that I would simply say “screw it” and take their offer. I informed them to send me back my Toshiba ASAP. Customer Service informed me that I needed to call their Purchasing Department and that they could address the issue. | Upon calling Purchasing, I asked for a manager and was informed that I was talking to a supervisor. When asked why there was a $152 difference between the on-line offer and their “real” offer, I was told that there were no guarantees and that their web site clearly explained this. I made it very clear to her that I was very upset by the offer and the process and asked, if there was nothing wrong with my Toshiba AND it was in like-new condition, why was the real offer so far off from what was offered on the site. I was informed that “no one wants lap tops and that they were providing a service” and that, again, there were no guarantees. | So, now I have been told that it will take up to 5 days for them to ship the unit back, with no guarantees of its condition upon arrival, and through their shipper it’ll take at least the two weeks it took to get there.

When I had my laptop appraised on www.cashforlaptops.com/ about 2 months ago, I was informed that I was to receive $100 in my checking account for sending in my old laptop. The company did allow for the contingency that I might be paid less if they found my actual laptop–once received–not to be worth the appraised value of $100. However, the website also made explicit that if this were to be the case, I would be informed BEFORE they would send me a sum below the originally proposed amount. Once informed about the possibly lower price, I would be able to choose whether I would agree to the lower price OR receive my laptop back. Having been given my original quote, I received a shipping box from the company and, accordingly, sent in my laptop. 5 weeks later, I finally received a payment. Unfortunately, not $100, however, but $20! I tried calling the company on several occasions, left voice messages, etc. but I never heard back and am yet to receive any kind of explanation as to why I only received 20% of the promised amount. I haven”t even received an official bill. Very disappointed for this company clearly scammed me.

This company runs what i know now as a “bait and switch”. They offer you a really great price for an item, make you promises that they will take care of it quickly and then once they get your item they keep it for weeks and then finally offer you a price so low on the item that is absolutely ridiculous and insulting. I had a brand new ipad air generation 5 that i had used for 2 weeks. I just didn”t care for it so i decided to sell it. It still had the plastic film on the screen that is how little i used it. This company offered me 373. 00 which i thought was fabulous since i had only paid 400. 00. They offered to send me a prepaid box, it took a week to get here and i mailed off the ipad (In its original box) the next day. It took a week to get it back. They promised me that they would get to it quickly. Note: i had written a note that if for some reason they couldn”t offer me thte 373. 00 to please call me first. It took them 10 days to look at my ipad. I received an email on a friday night that they were going to send me a payment of 59. 00!!! No one called me, they just gave me that offer that they would put into my paypal account. I tried to call them immediately. . How convenient. . . They were closed for the weekend. I sent numerous emails, they were replied to but they all said the same thing” there is nothing we can do on the weekend, please call at your earliest convenience on monday morning. ” I called first thing monday morning. . Was on hold for 1 / 2 an hour. I was told that i needed to speak to the purchasing dept. At this point, all i wanted was my ipad back. The purchasing manager said my ipad had already been “processed”. . And there was nothing he could do!!! I argued that i had just received the email friday night, and was told i couldn”t do anything till monday, so how could they have processed it already without giving me a chance to talk to them??? He said they were open all weekend, i could have contacted them. He then said that he could only offer me 59. 0 because the back was scratched (Lie) , and the home button didn”t work (Lie) . We went round and round and round, everything the man said was a lie. I just couldn”t get anywhere. I had used this company twice in the past with older computers and had always been so happy so this was such a shock to me that i was being treated this way. Finally he said he could add on another 141. 00 making it 200. 00 he could give me. Really?? How could he do that all of a sudden??? Pure scam He promised to put the money into my account. I haven”t seen it yet and dont really expect to. I have contacted the local better business bureau in nevada and will also be reporting them to the ftc. I am not about to take this lying down. They ripped me off for 173. 00 without even giving me a chance to get my ipad back.

They will lure you with high bids. Once they get your stuff, they will low-ball you and try to rip you off. They quoted me a price of $180 for my Dell Laptop in excellent condition. I sent my l to them laptop. I figured it was worth to get this amount quickly as compared to getting a bit more after fees through eBay. I would say that this laptop was in excellent condition. The first thing that put me on suspicion was that their procedure to send an email after receiving and inspecting your device. Also, someone would call to offer you their price rather than just confirming in an email the amount quoted. I actually received two of these emails without anyone calling me. I had to call cashforlaptops. When I spoke with a rep, I was told that my device had light scratches. They could offer me $120. I replied that I wanted my device back. He put me on hold and came back with $140. I again said no and asked for return of the device. I then got an email saying that there would be no further negotiation. I replied that I rejected this offer and I wanted my device return with no further delay and finally got confirmation that it was shipped. This course of conduct demonstrates that this company has no intention of paying the amount they quote you, regardless of condition. Moreover, their lowball offer and multiple increased offers show just how non-reliable they are. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE A TOTAL FRAUD AND RIP YOU OFF!!

SCAM!!! BEWARE! I sent in my ipad 2 16G wifi with a cracked screen after it was estimated that I would receive $99. 2 weeks later and with no interim communication, a measly $12 was deposited into my Paypal account. I tried to call immediately but it was not during their regular business hours. There was not an opportunity to leave any voicemail so I started emailing, disputing the amount, repeatedly stating in my emails that i would just like my iPad back and asking for someone to contact me and left my phone number and email address every time. I received no phone call, and at the soonest opportunity that i had, during normal business hours, I CALLED. AND CALLED AND CALLED. It took about an hour and a half of holding and getting disconnected and then when I finally got ahold of someone, I found out that the day I received my payment they had recycled my iPad so i couldn”t even get it back, even though it says in their terms and conditions that i had 3 days to dispute the amount. Conveniently, they only take disputes verbally but it is impossible to actually call them in a timely manner. I was offered an additional $23 after going round and round with a very unprofessional agent on the phone who was OBVIOUSLY making things up as he went. He even tried to say that I had responded to an automated email account and that”s why I didn”t receive any responses. Also tried initially to make up additional damages that were not on the iPad. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told that one wasn”t available. He just kept telling me that if i tried to talk to them, i wouldn”t get any better result. In the end, out of sheer frustration I accepted the $23. Please don”t deal with this company. I can”t even believe they are still in business.

They quoted my $300 and then they said that there are scratches on the screen and on the back. It’s a 2 year old laptop and there will be some wear and tear. Now the second offer is exactly the half of original qoute. If you don’t want to sell at that price then you have to pay shipping of $20 plus there’s no gaurentee of getting it back in same condition as you shipped. So I have to accept there offer below the amount which the costco recycle program was giving me. It’s better to go with a trusted name rather then going for a little higher amount and then end up getting even lesser then what i was offered initially by trusted names.
