Christy Shutok, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, received her Bachelor’s degree from University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Florida Gulf Coast University. Ms. Shutok has experience working with at risk youth and teens, in various settings, including Youth Haven, Children’s Advocacy Center, and Department of Juvenile Justice in Naples. She has also worked at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). She counseled young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, relationship concerns, and adjustment concerns.Ms. Shutok has over ten years of experience working at Hospice with children and adults of all ages. She has significant experience with individuals, couples and families going through life transitions and healing from issues related to death, dying, grief and loss.Holding a certification in Thanatology, the scientific study of death, its mechanisms and forensic aspect as well as the psychological and social aspects of death. She incorporates a cognitive behavioral approach, with an emphasis on increasing mindfulness and self-awareness.
