On Sunday, 8/16, James Rearden, from J & S Services, inspected our roof for potential repairs. He met with my wife and I, and explained what he would complete roof repair for $600. He stated he would turn up rows 3 to 5 of the shingles, place mastic on roof to fill in any cracks and seal the roof, replace the shingles, then paint over the shingles to complete the repair. We gave him a check for $400 as a deposit to buy supplies. He was to start the repair on 8/17, he actually started on 8/18 approximately 8AM. Approximately 10AM, he stated he was finished for the day and I gave him a check for an additional $300. He said he would come back 2 additional times to paint the repair area. | When my wife came home that night, she inspected the work and said that the roof shingles were only painted with the roof sealer material purchased by me. She called James with no response from him. She also checked the bank account and both checks had been cashed. James called back 8/20 and we asked that he make things right, that $700($100 more than quote) was extreme for 2 hours work, when the job was not completed as per the verbal agreement. He refused at first, then stated he would return $100. At this point, since he refused to complete the repair as per the verbal agreement, we did not want him back on our property. James Rearden told us he was licensed and insured. Unfortunately, afterwards, I researched & could not find proof that he is licensed through the state or insured.
