Mishelle Ortiz-Velez is an LMFT with over eight years of clinical experience working with individuals, adolescents, couples, and families. She received a PhD in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. She has extensive experience working with trauma, substance abuse, suicidality, high conflict divorce and separation, domestic violence, and co-occurring disorders. Mishelle believes, just as in all relationships, a successful therapeutic relationship is based in respectful, transparent, and trustworthy interactions.Mishelle is passionate about utilizing a systemic lens to empower clients through their difficult times. Her framework for therapy is that with the appropriate support and the possibility of a new perspective, you can create opportunities to respond to difficulties in more effective ways.Mishelle’s special interests include helping people cope through family cycle and family structure adjustment periods such as blending families, divorce, as well as adoption.
